How to Play 101 Okey

101 Okey rules

The deck

Four colours, 13 values each and two tiles per value. Of the 106 tiles one is the real okey and one is a blank reserve that never enters play.

The deal

The first player takes 22 tiles and discards first without drawing. The other three take 21 tiles. Every hand starts with the okey face up on the table.

Indicator and okey

The real okey is the value one higher than the indicator in the same colour (13 → 1). Two fake okeys stand in for it, so the okey is never shown until someone discards it.

Runs and sets

Three or four tiles of the same value in different colours, or at least three consecutive tiles in one colour, form a meld. Mels are worth at least 101 points.

Opening

The first meld must be worth at least 101 points or consist of 5 real pairs. If someone already opened the same way, a new meld must beat the highest meld on the table by at least 1 point or 1 pair.

Passing on a pair

A player left with a single pair may pass without opening. If they cannot complete a meld they take a 303 point penalty; a successful pair meld counts at hand value.

Scoring

Finishing your hand costs −101. A player who never opens takes 202, and one who passed on a pair and failed takes 303. Discarding the real okey adds 101 per discard, and having your okey taken from an opened meld adds 101 per take. When the wall runs out the lowest penalty wins the hand.

How a hand goes on Patikafe

Step 1

Enter your name, pick a character and dress them with hats, glasses and other accessories.

Step 2

Press Create room and share the invite code. Friends enter the same code and sit at your table.

Step 3

Add bots to the empty seats. When everyone is ready the host starts the game.

Step 4

On your turn, draw from the wall or take the tile just discarded.

Step 5

Open your meld and lay it on the table, then lay workable tiles onto the open ends of your melds.

Step 6

Finish your hand and return to the table. Press Rematch to keep the running scoreboard going.
